All at Sea talk at PRONI

Yesterday I went to a talk at the new Public Records Office building down in the Titanic Quarter.  It was a lovely sunny day (if a little cold when the wind blew) so I took some photos on my walk there….

some lovely cherry blossom

a not too wonky looking Albert Clock

The big fish

These trees were outside the odyssey.  There’s loads of them, I suspect the really bad winter at the end of 2010 probably finished them off!

The new titanic building.

The giant titanic kit sculpture

The new PRONI offices down in the Titanic Quarter.  The talk was called ‘All at Sea’ and was about all the different maritime records that they have in their archives.  It was very interesting and not entirely Titanic related.

It was the first time I’d been in the new building, there are some lovely art works in the foyer.

This ceramic piece is by Felicity Straker Graham.  The shelving reminds me of the displays at the British Museum in London.

Detail of the ceramic piece.

This piece is by Rita Dufy, sorry about all the reflections but it’s right beside the door and it really was an incredibly sunny day as proved by this next picture…

And finally a quick snap of the very pretty alley way beside the Duke of York, pity I didn’t have time for a sunny pint!

Northern Ireland Assembly Gift Shop.

You can now buy my work in the shop and tea rooms up in the Parliament Buildings at Stormont as part of their designer/maker initiative.  Myself and three others will have their work on display and for sale in the gift shop for the next six months.

The building and estate is open to visitors - you can take a tour of parliament buildings for free during the week when the assembly is in session, or you can walk round the estate any day between 7.30am and 6pm as it is a public park, the day I dropped my work in it was a lovely crisp autumnal day with crunchy leaves galore - perfect for stomping on!

At the moment I have a selection of cards, notebooks and large postcards and will shortly be adding cotton tote bags and tea towels to the mix.  As well as some of my popular designs I have also created some new designs especially.

The four new designs.

Here a couple snaps of the work in situ, not great quality I’m afraid so you should definitely head round and see the work in person!

My work.

A snap of the other work which includes Mr Papers and Gail Kelly designs as well as some beautifully intricate jewellery by a new designer.

Belfast City Bike Tours

Yesterday I went to the launch of new company Belfast City Bike Tours.  The weather was lovely and we were treated to scones and coffee at the Barge down on the Lagan.  What more could a girl want?  Well actually the icing on the cake was truly the bikes themselves - I was totally smitten by their retro stylings -

Aren’t they great!

The official ribbon cutting ceremony - I’m pretty proud of this action shot!

Afterwards I was flicking through my sketchbook and realised I have vintage style bikes on the brain….

Unfortunately my dream bike is a little out of my price range.  Ah well a girl can dream, and I can always head down to Belfast City Bike Tours and rent one for a while ;-)

SpaceCraft

As of the 1st March you can now find a selection of my work in SpaceCraft in Belfast.  It is in the Fountain Centre which is up the escalator on College Street behind Boots.  SpaceCraft is a gallery and shop space dedicated to craft and design in Northern Ireland run by the Craft and Design Collective.  There are a whole host of designers and craftspeople involved - from jewellery designers to ceramicists, textile artists, woodturners and furniture makers and now me!  I have a selection of greetings cards, notecard packs, notebooks and prints for sale, including my new mixtape screenprints.  So if you are in Belfast doing some shopping either for yourself of for a gift then you should definitely pop in and have a look.  As well as the shop space there is also a gallery which hosts regular exhibitions of craft and applied art.

Have had a spring clean round at the shop, have removed a lot of the older designs and put up four fresh new card designs.

Also apologies if you have been trying to look at the main site longshotpress.co.uk - it is having some major technical difficulties but normal service should be resumed shortly!

notebooks finally up in my shop!

Before Christmas I designed some A5 blank notebooks featuring my typewriter Illustration.  I kept meaning to add them to my shop and today I have finally done it!

They come in a pack of three and are priced at a very reasonable £5.00.  If you would like to see some in person then come along to the Black Market at the Black Box in Hill Street, Belfast where I will be selling a fine selection of stationery on Sunday 6th February.
